About the event
Bring someone you love to experience a sweeping concert featuring lush and emotional music including Prokofiev’s Suite No. 2 from Romeo and Juliet, a passionate work highlighting the dramatic tension, romance and tragedy of Shakespeare’s play.
Cellist James Baik, will join the LSO to perform Haydn’s most famous cello concerto, Cello Concerto No.1 in C major which was lost for nearly 200 years until it was rediscovered in a private collection in 1961. An award-winning American cellist, Mr. Baik was praised by Belgian newspaper Le Soir for his “undeniable authority” and “real warmth emerging in lyricism” after his astounding performance at the 2022 Queen Elisabeth Competition. He is a YCA Jacobs Fellow and is managed worldwide by Young Concert Artists.
In celebration of our 35th anniversary we will also debut a commissioned work by Alan Hankers.
