About the event

In honor of America's 250th anniversary, we will feature inspiring music by leading American composers. Pianist Jeffrey Biegel who has performed with major orchestras around the globe will join the LSO to present the beloved Rhapsody in Blue by George Gershwin and Peter Boyer's Rhapsody in Red, White and Blue. Mr. Biegel commissioned Peter Boyer to compose a new work in celebration of the centennial of George Gershwin's iconic work and we are proud to debut it in our county.

The concert also includes William Grant Still's Symphony No. 1, the first symphony written by an African American and performed by a leading American orchestra.

Seating is "general admission" and doors will open at 2:30 PM. The concert will be performed with a brief intermission.

Program:

  • First Essay for Orchestra - Samuel Barber

  • Symphony No. 1 “Afro - American” - William Grant Still
