LOUDOUN SYMPHONY YOUTH ORCHESTRA

The cornerstone of Loudoun Symphony’s youth educational program is the Loudoun Symphony Youth Orchestra (LSYO) program. Three ensembles are offered to accommodate talented young musicians who must audition in order to participate in the program.

Symphony Orchestra (advanced orchestra)

Concert Orchestra (intermediate orchestra)

Prelude Strings – participants must have one year of experience with a private teacher (Suzuki Book 2 & 3 Equivalent)

The LSYO program presents three concerts each season. This season, Symphony Orchestra members will perform with the Loudoun Symphony Orchestra (LSO) on three pieces during the LSO’s two holiday concerts on December 14th.   Members of the Symphony Orchestra will also perform at the annual gala on March 21, 2020.

Rehearsals take place from September until May.  Prelude Strings and Concert Orchestra rehearse on Mondays mostly at Farmwell Station Middle School in Ashburn. Symphony Orchestra rehearses mostly at Stone Bridge High School in Ashburn.

Reasonable exemptions will be considered for musician whose academic schedules present unavoidable conflicts with school ensemble participation (i.e. AOS, AET or MATA) The signature of a school academic advisor will be required in any such case. Home-schooled students and students whose schools do not have a relevant ensemble for their instrument, are also exempted.
