The cornerstone of Loudoun Symphony’s youth educational program, Loudoun Symphony Youth Orchestras (LSYO) provide an opportunity for varying levels of experienced musicians to perform with a large ensemble outside of an academic setting. All musicians are expected to perform in their school orchestras and bands if offered and are strongly encouraged to take private lessons.

In addition to weekly ensemble rehearsals, LSYO students are coached regularly by Loudoun Symphony Orchestra musicians and can participate in masterclasses/workshops given by world renown musicians. Our students have performed for artists hailing from notable organizations such as the National Symphony Orchestra, the “The President’s Own” United States Marine Corp Band as well as major international solo artists. 
 

Many of our LSYO musicians also participate in their schools Honors Music Programs such as All State Orchestra and Bands, Senior/Junior Regional Orchestras, and All County Honors Orchestras/Bands.

LSYO rehearsals take place from September until May. During the 2024-2025 season, the orchestras rehearse on the following days:

Sundays

Philharmonic Orchestra – Rehearsal 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM

Symphonic Orchestra – Rehearsal 6:30 PM - 8:30 PM

Tuesdays

Prelude Strings – Rehearsal 6:30 PM - 7:30 PM

String Orchestra – Rehearsal 6:30 PM - 7:30 PM
